Dr. SEBI diet, also known as Dr. SEBI alkaline diet, is a plant-based diet, developed and introduced by late Dr. Sebi, a self-educated herbalist Alfredo Darrington Bowman. The diet is based on the African Bio- Mineral Balance Theory.
He was the firm believer that the body must eliminate toxic waste through alkalizing the blood. Alkaline blood cures or prevents disease and improves overall health. His diet aims to do away dependency on conventional Western medication system.

Dr. Sebi suggested that disease cannot exist in an alkaline environment and begins to occur when the body becomes too acidic. By following his diet strictly, inclusive of selected fruits, vegetables, spices and seasoning, nuts and seeds, oils, grains, natural herbal teas, and using his proprietary costly supplements he claims that the body restores its natural alkaline state and detoxifies itself from diseases.
